I didn't get the slightest bit burned. I bought 2 sizes larger than I normally wear based on the reviews. The XL was perfect (I'm normally a medium). Last year I got a really bad sunburn on my first day of surfing in Costa Rica. This year, no burn thanks to the O'Neill rash guard, Neutrogena 100, and Shiseido face stick (nothing works as well as zinc oxide). I ended up wearing the rash guard a lot to prevent burning. Also, it started to wear out under the arms/side of the shirt where it rubs together. |
