I can see "Street nights and street lights" vividly because I bumped into them--through a song by Mark. Give me a writer who takes me somewhere. Give me a writer who can creak open the stuck door and lead me into some new visions. That's Mark. And there's so much more. Treat yourself. 3 of 3 people found the following review helpful By Phoebe (Los Angeles) - See all my reviews This review is from: History (MP3 Download) This is a great collection of songs in the Americana tradition. "Wedding Song" is really beautiful and I hope to start hearing it at weddings instead of all the usual suspects. If you like the poetic and melodic sensibilities of music from the 70s, but can't stand the nostalgia, you will like Montijo's music. The song "History" is like seeing parts of your life flashing by, but in a good way. I had it playing in the background for "lunch with the girls" and suddenly everyone had stopped talking and is going "What are we listening to? It's really good!" It seems I've bought so many CDs that I listen to once or twice and then forget I have them. Not true for "History." 2 of 2 people found the following review helpful By This review is from: History (MP3 Download) History is an easy listening, well produced CD about life, love and memories. Mark's songwriting and his cast of outstanding musicians hark back to the days of well composed songs by singer, song-writer musicians with influences of folk, country, bluegrass, and even a little cantina music thrown in. I especially enjoyed History and the Wedding Song (it was played at my wedding 26 years ago). I grew up hearing Mark's music and I'm so glad to have the CD. Treat yourself and friends to History as you don't hear an album like this too often. |
