Now that it is here, I don't think that I could possibly enjoy it more. While the majority of the songs are familiar, as they are translated versions of previous recordings, there is also a sense of newness to them as the translations are not word-for-word. Translating English-language songs to French is very difficult as the translations must rhyme, yet still match the timing and rhythm of the music. Mon Secret is the real deal. Easterling's beautiful, soaring voice is in rare form--perhaps the best I have ever heard even from her concerts--and she brings passion and depth to the music. The instrumentation and the musicianship is top rate. Give it a try; you will find yourself entertained and enchanted even if you do not speak a word of French (I sure don't ). It is said that music is the international language. boy this impressive disc sure proves that to be true. |
